About Merii
Merino wool has a long and illustrious history. Loved and treasured by thousands worldwide, including the Royal Family.
Compared with traditional coarse wool, New Zealand Merino wool fibre is the finest in the wool family. Its natural, breathable, elasticity and warm character is world famous, with a feel so soft and delicate. Merino garments are perfect for wearing against skin.
The surface of Merino is ultrafine, smooth, and anti-pilling. Garments made from Merino wool are resistant to shrinkage and wrinkles, whilst also being extremely easy to care for. Hand or machine wash, your Merino garments will stretch with you, yet return to their original shape. Merino is the first choice for luxury fashion.
Merii is proudly 100% Kiwi owned, with all garments designed and made in New Zealand. We use a premium blend of 65% Merino wool, 25% Possum down (not fur) and 10% Mulberry silk. Possum fibre has a unique hollow structure that traps air, acting as an insulator to keep you warm when the temperature drops. Independent tests show Possum fibre to be 55% warmer than regular wool and 35% warmer than Cashmere. Our luxurious blend is snug, light and extremely cosy.
The Brushtail Possum was brought into New Zealand from Australia in 1837 to establish a fur trade, but as the Possum had no natural predators in this new land, it quickly became the most damaging pest in New Zealand. A threat to our native forests and animals, including the iconic Kiwi!
Merii is the ecological choice in fashion!
